Two Raised Pads, One Open Channel: Your Tailbone Never Takes The Weight

Sit down. Nothing lands on your tailbone. It isn't that your chair is too hard. It's The Tailbone Landing: on a flat seat your tailbone is the first thing to touch down, and it carries the drop every single time you sit. This cushion moves that load somewhere else. Two raised pads take your sit bones, and an open channel runs between them so your tailbone rides over open space instead of into foam. Try it on your own chairs for 90 days.

$59.99$99.98You save $39.99
  • Keeps your tailbone off the seat entirely — the rear cutout leaves it hanging over open space instead of pressing into foam
  • Puts your weight where bone can carry it — two raised pads sit under your sit bones, the part of you built for the job
  • Stops the slow creep forward — a dotted grip base holds the cushion to the chair instead of travelling with you
  • Sits you level, not perched — the front edge stays low so your thighs are not squeezed and your feet still reach the floor
  • Stays cool through a long afternoon — the open channel runs front to back so air keeps moving underneath you
  • Comes apart for the wash — the cover unzips and goes in the machine, so a spilt cup of tea is not the end of it

Three weeks in and I have stopped doing that little shift I used to do every ten minutes at my desk. I only noticed because my wife pointed it out. — Alan R., Verified Buyer

Watch Where The Weight Goes

Watch What Happens The Second You Sit Down.

Side on, it is obvious. Sit on a flat pad and your tailbone meets the seat first and stays there. Sit on this one and it drops into the channel while the two pads take the load either side of it. The same thing happens in the driver's seat on a long run, at the kitchen table when dinner turns into two hours, and in the office chair you have been putting up with since spring. The shape is doing the work here, not the softness.

Four choices you feel in the first minute

The Shape Is The Whole Product

Nothing here is about softer foam. Every one of these is a decision about where your weight is allowed to land.

The Open Channel
01

The Open Channel

A channel runs the full length of the cushion and opens out at the back. Because your tailbone sits over that gap rather than on foam, The Tailbone Landing never happens — the drop you normally take when you sit down goes into the two pads either side instead.

“First time I sat on it I actually reached under to check there was nothing there. That is the whole point, apparently.” — Denise K.

Twin Load Pads
02

Twin Load Pads

The channel splits the seat into two raised pads, each shaped to sit under one sit bone. Because those bones are what your body is built to sit on, the pressure spreads across them instead of collecting at whichever point touched down first.

“I can feel exactly where it is holding me. It is under the two spots you would press if someone asked you where you sit.” — Gordon S.

Low Front Edge
03

Low Front Edge

The cushion is thicker at the back and tapers to almost nothing at the front. Because the edge under your thighs stays low, nothing digs in behind your knees and you are not perched an inch higher than your desk or your pedals expect.

“The last one I bought lifted me so high I had to drop my chair to the bottom. This one I did not have to change a thing.” — Tom B.

Stay-Put Base
04

Stay-Put Base

The underside is covered in raised grip dots rather than smooth fabric. Because they catch on the seat beneath, the cushion stays put when you lower yourself onto it and when you push yourself back up.

“It has not moved once. My old one used to end up halfway off the chair by lunchtime.” — Patricia H.

Why Ordinary Flat Foam Pads Stop Working By Week Three

A flat pad only ever does one thing: put a layer between you and the chair. The moment that layer squashes, you are back where you started — and your tailbone is still the first thing down.

Welnax OrthoSoothe

Two raised pads carry your sit bones, so the load rides on the part of you built to take it
The rear cutout leaves your tailbone over open space, so The Tailbone Landing has nowhere to happen
Contoured foam keeps its shape under you, so week ten feels like week one
A dotted grip base holds it exactly where you put it
The low front edge keeps your feet where they were and your desk where it was
VS

Ordinary Flat Foam Pads

One flat slab, so whichever part of you touches down first takes everything
Your tailbone presses straight into the pad for the entire time you sit
Squashes to a pancake and you are sitting on the chair frame again
Creeps forward all morning until you are half off the edge of it
Perches you up so your thighs press and your desk suddenly feels too low

One Cushion. Every Chair That Currently Wins.

The Morning Desk Shift

The ache that used to arrive around eleven does not, so you stop rearranging yourself between emails.

Behind The Wheel

Long runs stop ending with that stiff first hundred yards when you get out of the car.

Dinner That Runs Long

Hard kitchen chairs become sittable, so you stay at the table instead of moving to the sofa at nine.

The One That Lives In The Car

Most people end up with a second one on the driver's seat, so there is nothing to carry in and out each day.

The Flight Home

It packs flat against a bag and turns an airline seat into something you can sit still in.

All Day In The Chair

For anyone seated most of the day, the pressure moves off the tailbone and onto the sit bones where it belongs.

Shaped Around How Weight Actually Moves

The contour follows the principle rehabilitation seating is built on: carry the load on the sit bones, and take it off the tailbone. Research published in rehabilitation medicine has measured lower seating pressure over the tailbone and sit bones when a cushion carries weight off those points rather than through them, and separately found that contoured foam spreads sitting pressure more evenly than a flat pad. Underneath the knit cover you get a memory foam core, mesh side panels down both flanks, and a grip-dotted base. The cover comes off for the machine.

I thought it would be another brick

Every cushion I have tried was either marshmallow for a week or hard as the chair underneath. This one is firm but the firm bit is under my sit bones, not under my tailbone. That turns out to be the whole difference.

Four months, still the same shape

Bought it in April fully expecting it to be a pancake by summer. Took the cover off last week to wash it and the foam still has the two humps and the channel exactly as it came.

Finally one that stays where I put it

The bottom is covered in little raised dots and they actually grip. My last one used to slide forward until I was perched on the front edge by mid morning.

Did not have to lower my desk chair

The front is thin and it thickens towards the back, so it does not lift you up the way a slab does. My forearms sit on the desk at the same height they always did.

Lives in the car now

It fits the driver's seat of a Corolla with room either side. The two hour run to my daughter's used to mean a stiff walk up her path and now it does not.

Seven hours a day and no hot spot

I am in a chair most of the day and the thing I watch for is one spot getting warm and sore. The open channel down the middle seems to stop that happening.

Questions? Answered.

It measures 44 cm across and 35 cm front to back, which covers standard office chairs, most car seats, dining chairs and wheelchairs. Measure the seat you use most before ordering if it is unusually narrow. If it does not fit, the guarantee covers you.

It is firm, and deliberately so — a cushion soft enough to sink through puts you back on the chair frame within minutes. The difference is where the firmness sits: under your sit bones, with open space beneath your tailbone.

The core is contoured memory foam rather than a flat slab, so it returns to its shape rather than compressing into one. The two raised pads and the centre channel are moulded into the foam itself, not built up from layers that can settle.

The whole underside is covered in raised grip dots that catch on the seat below. It holds on fabric, leather and vinyl car seats.

The front edge tapers down to almost nothing, so your thighs and knees stay where they were. Most people find they do not need to adjust their chair height or their seat position at all.

The cover unzips and goes straight in the washing machine. Let it air dry and leave the foam core out of the machine.

Send it back within 90 days for a full refund, no restocking fees. Sit on it on your own chairs for a few weeks before you decide — that is the only way to know.
